Her haiku poetry also has won national acclaim, published in haiku journals such as Frog Pond and Modern Haiku. Helen Sherry is the author of two published books of poetry: Colors of Haiku and Breath of Haiku.
An Arts and a Letters member of the National League of American Pen Women, Helen Sherry has served as President at State and local levels.
A native of Pennsylvania with a desire from early childhood to be a painter, Helen's first formal art education was at the Columbus (Ohio) College of Art and Design. Since her move to San Diego, Helen has studied with Virginia Cobb, Valford Thelan, Elaine Harvey, Katherine Chang Liu and Linda Doll.
Helen Sherry views the world through the eyes of a poet, filling her canvases with dazzling displays of color and texture, her brush guided by her instincts and emotions. She is a skilled technician, a true professional who enjoys experimenting in techniques, media and color relationships.
